broke

Sooo for those of you that do not know... I had an unnfortunate unplanned dismount (aka fell on my ass and possibly got stepped on) from a very untrained ex race horse last week which resulted in a pretty bad concussion, a fractured pelvis and sacrum and four days in the hospital.

I'm such a goddamn dumbass because I was getting on this horse from the fence bareback and then I draw a blank because of my concussion... thankfully I was wearing a helmet. But it could be a hell of a lot worse so I think I'm pretty lucky. I have physical therapy today and I hope they will tell me good news because I'm not trying to have this piece of shit walker at school and look like a grandma.

So I've been watching a lot of movies and smoking a lot of cigarettes... I should do something more productive like read or write but meh. Buck should hopefully be here in a little over a week which will make everything better and we can go shopping and get ready for school and play, etc. I cannot wait for school... this summer was a good one over all... better than last summer. I kept really busy and was working 3-4 jobs and 50 hour weeks, but I found that I really like to do that. I loved my work. I love training horses and working outside. And the babysitting gig wasn't too bad either. So as you can imagine I'm going a bit nuts having to stay inside all day and sit on the couch. But again, it could have been a lot worse so I'm pretty lucky in the grand scheme of things.

If you read this, if your eyes are passing over this right now, (even if we don't speak often) please post a comment with a COMPLETELY MADE UP AND FICTIONAL memory of you and me. It can be anything you want - good or bad - BUT IT HAS TO BE FAKE. When you're finished, post this little paragraph in your journal and be surprised (or mortified) about what people DON'T ACTUALLY remember about you."

I'm home for spring break and it's been pretty chill.

I've decided to get a job in DC this summer and live (mostly)with some family who live in Chevy Chase. As much as I love my ponies and wandering through the woods along the patuxent... I think I really will go stir crazy. Plus I'll have my car to go visit my mom when I have free time, but it'll be nice not being like an hour away from everything. Also I'm going to go to the beach with the boy I babysit for and his family for a week in June... aka getting paid to go to the beach? woo.

I sort of had to choose between a "date" and going to NYC this weekend... I chose NYC.

But there is a guitar-playing Amherst boy I met on the way to the airport. I'm not sure about him quite yet.

fate

I've been an awfully sporadic live journaler, but whatever. The mood has come and I will swing with it. I can only describe my thoughts the past few days as eternal pondering, future pondering. I'd love to hold onto this boy through out the years, in one way or another, but will that happen? It seems as though I'm a little pawn in life's hands and my fate, our fate, is commpletely out of anybody's control. What will happen to me, to us? This question presses down on me at any free moment, though without any specific stress or conviction.

What will happen, what will happen. If I knew, though, it would make atleast some parts of today seem terribly trivial. That's the fun of this gamble...

Anyway. I've been packing for college, I've been cleaning, I've been desperately trying to learn guitar. Daniel is getting back in town today, and tonight I'm going to Joanna's to have one last 'girl's night' before we all move on.

I must begin packing becuase after work I'm going to Daniel's to sleep over becuase we have a very early flight the next morning. Cheers!

a lady in waiting

Oh how I hate to be a lady in waiting these days, but at this moment it's inevitable. The boy needs to get back into the states and within cell phone range or I might just go a little bit crazy.

This morning was spent sitting on the Klise's porch and then violating Steve's bedroom. And by violating I mean, dressing in Steve's clothes while Matt was in the shower and taking pictures. Not sure where those pictures are at the moment, but perhaps I will post some here when I get a hold of them. Kelsey and I were too poor to get our piercings done and so we went back to her house. She made us eggs and smoothies and we watched BBC and played chess.

Lazy lazy summer afternoons...

to the beat of a drum

Tonight Steve, Geoffrey, Matt, and Josh and I went to Wheaton for the wednesday night drum circle on the lawn near Chuck Levin's. I absolutely love this. Every sort of person shows up and pounds on a drum for a while, I couldn't help the grin that kept spreading across my face. Afterwards we went to the Tastee Diner in Silver Spring for some intense debauchery. And by that I mean college talk and Geoffrey 'accidentally' spraying me with an exploded coffee cream and a gigantic shark on a building, and sitting in the side walk just hanging out. I love these people.

a fresh start

Well here I am, back on livejournal. I suppose it is the leisurely hum of summer that has prompted me to write again. But to write simply. It is nice to have an additional record of one's doings and happenings (aside from my beloved 'real' journal), and it's also new to start fresh.

The past few months have been pretty crazy. I was in our upper school play 'Metamorphoses' by Mary Zimmerman, I went to prom and I graduated from high school, just to name a few things. I'm looking forward to college a lot, and found out a few weeks ago that my orientation is white water kayaking!

Recently, though, I've been enjoying this summer here in Maryland. I received some more sporadic hours at Great Strides (my job at a therapeutic riding center), so I've been working quite a bit. Simultaneously earning a fair amount of money, and then splurging it on coloring my hair :/. Mom and I have sort of been riding, but it's hard when it's so hot and the only time when it's even remotely cool is 6 am in the morning. I've also been going to the weight room at SSFS (it's free!) and working out. I started off the summer in a fairly upset and withdrawn manner, as Daniel and I had broken up at the end of May. I immersed myself in some really good literature though-- I read In Cold Blood and Catcher in the Rye. In Cold Blood was phenomenal, as was the movie Capote. Perry Smith is a fascinating character that definitely sticks in your mind.

After a few weeks, I was doing alright. I went to a few really cool parties and hung out with friends. And actually, just three days ago Daniel and I got back together, which is completely surreal and amazing. He left for Thailand on Sunday and will be there for 10 days, and then back to New Orleans for a few more days. I think he gets back to Maryland on the 30th... I CANNOT wait to see him. :)

Yesterday we celebrated Matt's birthday in DC watching 'The Day the Earth Stood Still' on the mall. It was a lot of fun, and the mall was packed. The energy and enthusiasm in the audience was very cool and entertaining. It made me want to run around or go to a protest or something. DC is a really cool city, and I definitely don't go down there enough. The capital looked beautiful all lit up and I wished we could have stayed down there all night, soaking up the city. But, of course, I had to make it home so Mom wouldn't worry too much.

So that's about all that has been going on. Today Steve and I went to the weight room and worked out, and then I played The Sims a lot... that game is too addicting. I started this book 'The Broken Places' by Susan Perabo. I'm not sure how I feel about it yet... but Susan was one of the author's who was teaching us at the Dickinson Young Writer's workshop last summer. It looks like it's about to really storm... time to dance around outside!
